March through May is one of the best times to visit San Diego. If you want to avoid tourist rush and enjoy the mild weather, this time of the year will serve you very well. Fall Holiday in San Diego

You must explore the city during autumn, when there are lesser crowds and lower hotel rates. Make your hotel bookings several weeks prior if you're visiting in early fall. But a few days advance booking should be good enough, for a late October or early November trip.

During the winter months, you can expect a good amount of rainfall, with lower temperatures. This is the time to take advantage of lower hotel rates and there are plenty of activities to indulge in.
